The Fish and Fish Habitat Protection Program is responsible for the operational administration of the Applications Concerning Fish and Fish Habitat Protection Regulations. These regulations outline information requirements for project proponents submitting an Application for Authorization to DFO, and set legislated time limits that must be met by the department in the review of applications. Under these legislated time limits, DFO must: send confirmation of receipt of the Application for Authorization to the applicant which indicates date of receipt, notify the proponent in writing whether the application is complete or incomplete or inadequate within 60 days of the receipt date, and approve or refuse the application within 90 days of notification.
