The Government of Canada consults with the public and Indigenous groups to fulfill statutory requirements, to carryout the Crown’s legal duty to consult with Indigenous Peoples and to promote strong policy development and good governance. The Grants and Contributions group of the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) uses grants and contributions to support active public and Indigenous involvement in regional or strategic assessments, assessments of designated projects for which it is responsible, and in assessment-related policy and research initiatives.
