View service inventory entry Visit service website Suggest a correction

All prototype measuring devices (e.g., gas pumps, scales, electricity meters, natural gas meters) intended for use in measurement-based financial transactions (trade measurement) must be evaluated and approved by Measurement Canada before they can be used in the Canadian marketplace. Measurement Canada issues a type approval once it has been confirmed the device complies with all applicable legal requirements. This type approval is legal confirmation the device is approved for trade measurement use in Canada. (Trade Measurement, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.)
