The Department of Justice Canada has established a Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Unit (FOAEA Unit) in Ottawa to support its legislated mandate under the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act (FOAEAA). Under the Canadian system, the enforcement of family orders and agreements is a provincial/territorial responsibility. The federal government, through the establishment of the FOAEAA and the FOAEA Unit, has committed to assist the provinces and territories in their enforcement activities.
