The National Office for Victims (NOV) is a central resource that offers information on the federal corrections and conditional release system to victims of federal offenders, victim serving organizations and the general public and performs a referral function to the Correctional Service of Canada and the Parole Board of Canada to individuals with specific information inquiries. A federal offender is someone who has been sentenced to serve two years or more in federal custody. In accordance with the Canadian Victim Bill of Rights (CVBR) every federal department, agency or body that is involved in the criminal justice system must have a complaints resolution mechanism (see https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/rsrcs/pblctns/2019-vcrm-cvbr/index-en.aspx).
